Our Story

Dating back to the 16th Century and traditionally a smallholding, Redford has been farmed for many hundreds of years and was owned by one farming family for the last 100 years. We discovered this beautiful, historic collection of derelict buildings back in September 2009. They included the Grade 2 listed Elizabethan farmhouse, 2 redbrick barn outbuildings and a stable all within 12 acres of unmanaged land. Living and working in Bristol with 2 young children we were looking for a new adventure for our young family and hoping to bring them up in a rural setting - we found it here.  A site where we could create a home and build a hospitality business alongside.

What followed was a labour of love. The first planning and logistical hurdle was getting the vital static caravan on site. Then during the 2 years of commuting between the caravan and Jude's parents home near London, we worked alongside an incredible team of local builders to restore the farmhouse. There were many obstacles and setbacks along the way as well as a lot of hard work and countless decisions but we finally moved in during the summer of 2011 and it became our cherished family home for 15 years.

With the farmhouse complete and our family settled, our attention turned to the barns. The barns and stable were always a big reason behind why we bought Redford, we could see their potential for becoming a space for families and friends to gather and appreciate time away from busy lives.

Originally built in the 19th century, the barns were once at the heart of daily farm life. Ludlow Barn was originally a threshing barn, with its ventilation openings and large doors designed for storing and processing crops, while Tenbury Cottage was used for storage and stabling livestock. With the restoration, our goal was to create a unique and inspiring space while retaining the barns' agricultural heritage.  In the Spring of 2014, shortly after the birth of our 3rd daughter, the big day arrived when we finally welcomed our first guests to the barns.

Our approach has always been to work with the buildings rather than against them, preserving their character and respecting their history. Every restoration has been carried out with care, creating spaces that feel authentic, welcoming and full of warmth. After more than 15 years of restoring Redford Farm and enjoying this space for our family to grow up in - we decided it was time to add our beloved Farmhouse to the mix of accommodation for guests to rent. It means we can now offer the entire 12 acre site, accommodating up to 25-30 guests who want to enjoy the whole site in private to celebrate special occasions.

We're proud to share Redford Farm's heritage, charm and sense of nostalgia with guests, helping them create memories of their own in this special place. More than anything - we hope our unique home offers somewhere for guests to gather, relax and experience a little of the magic that first drew us to Redford Farm. This is what makes the journey so worthwhile.
