Walks & Trails
The Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has an incredible range of landscapes and woodlands to explore, and every season has something special to offer here with changing landscapes through the year. There are so many beautiful walks and cycle trails to experience, we’ve rounded up some of the best walks nearbyand swimming spots for the more adventurous.
Mortimer Forest
A thousand hectare forest rich in wildlife and home to longhaired fallow deer, Mortimer Forest has a large number of marked trails, footpaths and bridleways, it is home to the Ludlow Park Run and a popular spot for walking, running cycling and horse riding.
Whitcliffe Common
Just on the outskirts of Ludlow, Whitcliffe common comprises steep wooded slopes rising from the banks of the River Teme, which lead to open grassland with glorious views across Ludlow to the Clee Hills.
Swimming & Canoeing
The River Teme is a great destination for wild swimming and canoeing during the summer months. Just a 20 min drive from Redford Farm, it runs from the Welsh border through north Herefordshire and into Ludlow.
Cycling
Ludlow and surrounding area is ideal for cycling. The beautiful hilly countryside includes the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and has many quiet country lanes, forest areas and planned routes to suit cyclists of all abilities.

Ludlow Food festival
The ‘original’ food and drink festival at Ludlow. Taking place in the summer, the festival features a programme of cooking demonstrations, trails, late sessions, workshops, children’s activities and talks from international chefs & producers.
Spring Food Festival
A vibrant celebration of great food, drink and live entertainment. The finest beers from independent brewers plus live music comedy, talks and tastings, family activities and the Marches Transport Festival.
Live at Ludlow Castle
An annual outdoor summer concert series held within the historic grounds of Ludlow Castle. Organized by the Futuresound Group, ticket sales directly fund the preservation and restoration of the castle ruins.
